Woodbridge’s girls flag football team went undefeated in Pacific Coast League play to capture the league championship.

The Warriors defeated University 44-13 on Wednesday at Woodbridge

“University is always a tough matchup,” said Warriors Coach Mark Thompson. “They have a great coaching staff and always come in with a good game plan.

“I thought we played really well on both sides of the ball. Defensively, we came up with five sacks and four interceptions. June Kellogg and Laney Brucker each had two interceptions, including a pick-six by Laney.”

The Warriors (24-4, 8-0) finished with 378 total yards and six touchdowns.

“Our quarterback Delia Stone, had another great game, throwing for 329 yards and five touchdowns while adding 49 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Loghan Everett had seven receptions for 107 yards and a touchdown ande Lauren Gagnier had eight catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Naiomi Tase and center Eli Saucedo also caught touchdown passes.

“I’m really proud of this group and what they’ve accomplished this season,” Thompson said. “Going undefeated in league is not easy. The girls have worked hard all year, and it’s great to see that hard work pay off.

“We’re excited about the upcoming CIF playoffs and the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in Southern California. Our goal is to continue improving and hopefully make a deep run. We know the competition will be tough, but I feel good about where we’re at as a team.”

Woodbridge has one final non-league game, hosting St. Margaret’s Monday at 5 p.m. then prepares for the start of the CIF playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The pairings will be released on Friday.
