Calvary Chapel High School’s boys basketball tearm defeated Estancia 53-37 in an Orange Coast League game Friday night and moved into a tie for first place with St. Margaret’s.
Calvary Chapel (13-8, 6-1) is tied with St. Margaret’s (14-5, 6-1). Costa Mesa upset the Tartans 73-66 Friday night at Costa Mesa.

Calvary Chapel held Estancia to under 10 points in the first quarter and led 32-13 led at halftime. Estancia closed the gap to 43-29 at the end of the third quarter but Calvary Chapel, led by a strong defensive effort, responded to seal the win.
Senior captain Caiden Curran of Calvary Chapel led all scorers with 18 points. Carson Franklin had 11 points and Tyler Peterson 10 points for Calvary Chapel.
Estancia (15-8, 2-5) was led by Peter Sanchez, who had 14 points and Jagger Steck, who had eight points.
