TARBUT V’ TORAH 52, LA QUINTA 50: Isaac Joelson sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to help Tarbut V’Torah defeat La Quinta in the Luis Macias Tournament at Santa Ana High School Thursday night. Joelson made five 3-pointers and scored 20 points and Yonah Light added nine points to help TVT (1-2) avenge last year’s loss to La Quinta in the quarterfinal round of the CIF playoffs.
In the other tournament game Thursday, Capo Valley Christian defeated Calvary Chapel 66-52.
PORTOLA 79, LAGUNA BEACH 62: The Bulldogs recorded a win at the Jim Harris Memorial Classic. Deven Daniel had 30 points, Colin Huang 22 points and Ryan Chu 12 points to lead Portola. Sam Burchi scored 12 points to lead Laguna Beach.
SANTA MARGARITA 68, TORRANCE 35: The Eagles improved their record to 3-0 with a victory in the Orangewood Tournament and advanced to Saturday’s championship game at 6:30 p.m. Rockwell Reynolds had 19 points and Cameron McNamee 18 points to lead Santa Margarita.
PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 61, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 58: EJ Spillman scored 19 points, Alex Stewart had 14 points and Parker Strauss had 10 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Tritons in their season opener.
