Crean Lutheran and Mater Dei have been selected to compete in the CIF Open Division Boys Basketball Championships starting Friday, CIF officials announced Sunday.
The division will use an eight-team pool play tournament format.
Centennial Corona, Sierra Canyon, Harvard Westlake, Crean Lutheran, Damien, Mater Dei, Notre Dame Sherman Oaks and Bishop Montgomery are the teams seeded one through eight.
The brackets were announced Tuesday. No. 4-seeded Crean Lutheran will play at home Friday vs. No. 5 Damien, Tuesday at home vs. No. 8 Bishop Montgomery and Friday, Feb. 18 at top-seeded Corona Centennial.
Crean Lutheran (22-3) captured the Empire League title with a 10-0 record.
No. 6 Mater Dei will play at No. 3 Harvard Westlake on Friday, at No. 2 Sierra Canyon on Tuesday and host No. 7 Notre Dame Sherman Oaks on Friday, Feb. 18.
Crean Lutheran is in Pool A and Mater Dei in Pool B.
The finals are Friday, Feb. 25, at designated home sites.
