Santa Ana College’s baseball team outlasted Folsom Lake 8-7 in a 15-inning marathon in the opening round of the state tournament Saturday night in Lake Folson.
The Dons move into a winners bracket game Sunday at 2 p.m. against Orange Empire Conference rival Saddleback College which defeated Serra 10-9 in extra innings.
Santa Ana College battled five hours to get the win Saturday night. Sophomore outfielder Ryann Stock (Servite High School) entered the game in the ninth inning for defensive purposes but made all the difference at the plate.
Stock went 2 for 2 with a go-ahead single in the 13th and the game winning home run in the 15th.
Other notable performances came from Eddie Pelc and Hauze Fragoso.
Pelc came up big when it mattered as he singled to help bring Christian Thompson home to take the lead in the eighth and doubled to drive in three in the 13th.
Fragoso was a workhorse for the first seven innings of the game, delivering one of his best outings of the season. The right-hander allowed just two runs (one earned) while striking out six Falcons.
