Ocean View High School’s football team kept its hopes alive for a CIF playoff at-large spot with a 35-14 Pac-4 League victory over Godinez Friday night.

Ocean View was led by running backs Jayden Trujillo, who had 16 carries for 100 yards and three rushing touchdowns and William Pardue IV, who had eight carries for 148 yards and one rushing touchdown, according to first-year coach Daniel Hernandez.

Quarterback Frankie Armenta completed 10 of 13 passes for 120 yards. Oswaldo Lozano was the leading receiver with eight catches for 104 yards and a rushing TD.

Defensively, Ivan Ortiz added an interception and Trujillo had three sacks and six tackles for a loss. Isis Salazar was 2 for 3 on point after attempts.

Ocean View’s players and coaches will be following the release of CIF pairings on Sunday morning. Teams with .500 records are eligible for at-large berth.

Ocean View finished the season 5-5 overall and 1-2 in league and will await the playoff pairings on Sunday. The Seahawks were 2-8 overall last season.

“It’s been a great first year as the head coach, my kids have battled hard and over come a ton of adversity,” Hernandez said. “Especially proud of our offensive line that starts four juniors and a sophomore.”

Godinez dropped to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Check back Sunday morning for the CIF football pairings on OC Sports Zone.
