Mater Dei, Edison and Portola football teams have been selected to compete in the CIF Regional Football Championship Bowl Games, officials announced Sunday.
Games will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 at host sites. There are 56 teams invited.
MATER DEI
Mater Dei, which captured the CIF Division 1 title, has advanced into the Open Division championship on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. to face Northern California champion De La Salle at Saddleback College.
EDISON
The Chargers, who captured the CIF Division 3 title, will host Granite Hills Saturday at 7 p.m. at Huntington Beach High School in the 1-A bowl game according to Edison Athletic Director Rich Boyce.
The winner moves on to face the winner of the Northern California contest St. Ignatius and Central the following weekend.
PORTOLA
The Bulldogs, who captured the first CIF title in school history with a 31-14 victory over El Rancho in the Division 11 final, play King Drew High School Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the 6-AA game at Narbonne High School in Harbor City.
The winner moves on to face the winner of the Northern Division match-up between Arcata and Winters the following weekend.
Tickets will go on sale Monday, Dec. 2 only through the GoFan app.
