Laguna Hills High School athletic officials announced Friday that John Lester has been named the school’s seventh head football coach replacing Mike Maceranka who resigned earler this month.
“Coach Lester has been a fixture at Hawk High since 1992,”according to a release from Athletic Director Scott Wilford. “He has served as football assistant coach for 20 years, helping the school earn eight league championships, earn numerous post-season appearances and one CIF Southern Section Section title.”
Lester has also coached track and basketball at Laguna Hills and has been an assistant coach at Santa Margarita, St. Margaret’s and San Clemente.
“We are looking for great things ahead,” the release added.
Maceranka announced he was stepping down to spend more time with his family but he is continuing to teach at Laguna Hills.
