Woodbridge parents and students planning ‘drive-by’ event for graduating seniors Thursday

A parent and student organized graduation ‘drive-by’ will be held for Woodbridge High School’s graduating seniors on Thursday, June 4 at 2 p.m.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, graduation ceremonies had to be changed to a virtual ceremony for seniors in the district on Thursday.

Thursday’s event, which is not sanctioned by the school or the district, will start on the outer lane of Woodbridge loop (East and West Yale loop) from any connecting streets, according to a flier sent to parents and publicized on Facebook.

The route will follow a five mile Yale Loop surrounding North and South Woodbridge.

Organizers recommend that non-students do the driving to allow the seniors to enjoy the event. Seniors should wear their caps and gowns and decorate their cars.

Spectators should set up on the outer loop when convenient and safe by 1:45 p.m., and should not park their cars on the loop, according to organizers.

Before the drive-by, between noon and 1:45 p.m., parents and students are invited to come by and see a large banner which will honor graduates at the corner of West Yale Loop and Alton, according to organizers.
