Segerstrom High School’s football team bounced back from an opening week loss to defeat Santa Ana Valley 63-7 Friday night at Santa Ana Valley in front of a big crowd.

“Our guys rebounded from last week with a great win versus a city rival,” said Segerstrom Coach Joseph Tagaloa. “The defense got us started on the first play of the game with a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Matthew Orellana was able to jump on a bad snap to get the scoring going. Ayden Morales and Joseph Garcia both added a pick six.”

Segerstrom was led by Ayden Morales, who rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns. Noah Martinez completed a touchdown pass to Diego Garcia and Louis Garcia hit Gabriel Vergara for another.

“Our return game also was also productive with Josh Garcia and Ayden Morales with big returns that set up short fields,” Tagaloa said.

Jason Valencia of Santa Ana Valley returned a kickoff for a touchdown for the Falcons only score.

Segerstrom hosts Barstow Friday night.

“Next week we host a very good Barstow team, so we must make the necessary adjustments and prepare to compete,” Tagaloa said.
