Jared Brown is averaging 19 points a game for the Centurions.
Senior guard Jared Brown is one of the main reasons that Cypress’ boys basketball team is off to a 16-2 start and has already captured two tournament championships.
“Jared Brown is the heart and soul of our team,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “He is constantly trying to get in the gym to work on his game. Over the summer, he was training at 5:30 a.m. to get stronger and work on his explosiveness.
“His leadership ability has made my job easy because everyone comes to work everyday. He has the unique ability to support his teammates while also demanding their best effort. He has been MVP of the two tournaments we won, and all tournament in the third one in Las Vegas. He has earned a full ride to Westmont which is one of the top NAIA schools in the nation.”
Brown is averaging 19 points, four assists, four rebounds and four steals. He is shooting 52 percent from two-point field goal range, 39 percent from 3-point range and has made 75 percent of his free throws.
