DIVISION III

Bosco Tech 53, Woodbridge 48: Woodbridge (22-11) tried to battle back from a 14-point deficit going into the fourth quarter but came up short in the road game Thursday night. Woodbridge cut the lead to 52-48 with 28 seconds left but Bosco Tech held on. JC Schindler scored 17 points, Jason Briggs 12 points, Stephen Lamp 10 points and Jaiden Sabino seven points to lead Woodbridge.

“I’m so proud of this team,” Woodbridge Coach Steve Scoggin said via text message. “The heart and grit they showed this game and all year is what a warrior is all about. You have to give credit to Don Bosco. They are tough and have some really good players that came up big when it counted tonight. They just made a couple more plays that we did.

“The journey our team went on this year was a special one. Through ups and downs, our kids stuck together as a team. I’m so blessed to be a part of their journey and see these young men grow up in front of my eyes.”

Woodbridge opened the regional Tuesday with a victory at home. It was the first victory for the program in the state tournament since the Warriors defeated Bakersfield South at home in 1997, according to former coach John Halagan.
