University senior Arden Marchiorlatti was voted Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player/ Defensive Player of the Year by the league’s head girls flag football coaches, who do not vote for their own players and sophomore Callie Rochholz was voted All-PCL First Team, according to Trojans Coach Jeff Marchiorlatti.
Marchiorlatti was a three-time All-PCL first-team selection and 2024 All-CIF selection, finishing her career as the program’s all-time leader in receptions (447), receiving yards (5,042), receiving touchdowns (41), total touchdowns (45), points (295), tackles (387) and interceptions (27). This season she caught 133 passes for 1,531 yards and 13 touchdowns while recording 120 flag pulls.
Rochholz led the team with 16 total touchdowns (14 receiving) and nine interceptions in 16 games, adding 105 catches for 1,176 yards, the coach said.
Other players also stood out.
“Sophomore Ella Carmichael set a program single-game record with four sacks against Irvine and finished with a team-high 17,” Coach Marchiorlatti said. “Sophomore Chloe Malik led the team with 134 flag pulls and added 12 sacks. Senior Natalia Anania was a defensive stopper.
“Sophomore quarterback Bella Jaimes threw for 4,148 yards and 37 touchdowns in her first varsity season.”
University finished 11-10 overall and 1-7 in the Pacific Coast League.
The coach described it as “the toughest league year the program has faced, with Woodbridge, Sage Hill and Portola all in the mix for CIF. In fact, Woodbridge went all the way to the CIF Open Division semis. The Trojans went 10-3 outside of league play, including a massive tournament win over Mission Viejo who was the host and No. 9 in the state at the time we played.
“I’m incredibly proud of this team While we didn’t achieve the season goals that the players set this past summer, we had some great results, specifically with the Mission Viejo Tournament championship. The program will lose seniors Sol Blanco, Natalia Anania, Selin Haytoglu, Arden Marchiorlatti, Sophia Stouffer and Leighton Lee, but the returning players will be a force to be reckoned with in 2027.”
