University High School’s football team, led by second year head coach Vince Mesa, has begun preparations for the 2022 season.
“Summer is going great, we’re off to a good start, ” Mesa said. “We want to continue to improve as a football team in all aspects. Football IQ, bigger, stronger, faster. We had a great spring winning our division in the four-vert league and want to continue to build from that success.
“We have several 7 on 7 games scheduled and a tournament in July. We’re hoping these competitions will put us on track for the season.”
Mesa is looking to key players Eithar Takesh, Chris Rue, Blaine Anderson, Koa Saito and Jonathan Soto to lead the way.
University was 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the Pacific Valley League last season. The Trojans first four games this season are on the road.
