Six Tustin High baseball players wrapped up their high school careers playing on the Empire League team in the Ryan Lemmon Showcase.

Matthew Elizalde, Kyle Hoskins, Marcus Johnson, Dwayne Angebrandt II, Rodney Boone and Enrique Bennett were on the squad, which lost to the Sea View League 3-1 June 9 at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Elizalde score the only run for the Empire League in the second inning.

“I’m very proud of the young men that represented Tustin High School and the Empire League in the Showcase,” said Tustin Coach Charles Chatman. “Rod, Kyle and Dwayne were the corp of our pitching staff that finished with a Tustin record 200 plus strikeouts and sub two ERA.

“Matt caught the majority of our innings this year behind the plate and Marcus and Enrique held down the middle of our line-up.”

All five players are moving on to play baseball next year, Chatman said.

Angebrandt is headed to Cal State Northridge, Boone to UC Santa Barbara, Elizalde to Loyola Marymount, Hoskins to Santa Ana College and Bennett to Golden West College.
