Santa Margarita High School’s boys basketball team, coached by Justin Bell, capped a big weekend in Canada by winning the championship of the Tsumura Invitational Saturday.
The Eagles Tobias Averill, a Carleton College (Minnesota) commit from Irvine, scored 12 points and was named the tournament MVP. Ethan Rhee also had 12 points. Cameron McNamee scored 11 points and Drew Anderson 10 points for the Eagles, who won all four games by decisive scores.
Santa Margarita (7-3) hosts Temecula Valley Thursday at 7 p.m.
