Capo Valley Christian’s football team notched its second straight victory to start the season, defeating Calvary Chapel 28-19 in a non-league game Saturday night at Segerstrom.

“I’m incredibly proud of the resilience our team put on display Saturday night,” said Capo Valley Christian Coach Brandon Camarillo. “We had to battle adversity all week long and the players did a great job of coming together and playing hard for for quarters. We are hoping to keep this momentum going as we prepare for a very good Laguna Hills team this week.”
Running back Ezra Nyhan led the offense with 10 carries for 117 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Sam De La Torre had 15 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown.
Safety Levi Harris had six tackles and a fumble recovery. Linebacker Joel Williams had an interception. Defensive lineman Hudson Donnelly forced a fumble and linebacker Aiden Jennings had a fumble recovery.
The Eagles defense forced three turnovers and had two sacks.
Capo Valley Christian plays at Laguna Hills on Friday. The Eagles open up Ironwood League play on Friday, Oct. 2 vs. Valley Christian.
Calvary Chapel (0-2) hosts Reseda Thursday night at 7:30 at Segerstrom.
The Eagles are in the Lambda League with Valencia, Sonora, Woodbridge, Westminster and Fountain Valley.
