Aspen Kyles and Shelby Macias combined for 11 strikeouts over 12 scoreless innings as the Santa Ana College softball team defeated the Golden West Rustlers 3-0 and 8-0 in Wednesday’s season opening doubleheader.
The two pitchers showed just how much depth the Dons have at the pitching position as they held their own on the mound while Emily Rosas, SAC’s win leader (9) in 2020, played outfield all day.
Santa Ana’s offense came in spurts as they scored all of their three runs in the third inning of the first gameand the majority of their eight runs over two innings for the second game.
Jordan Westerfield posted a team high three hits in game one and finished the day 4 for 6 with two runs and an RBI over two games in her SAC debut. Andrea Uriarte, Emily Rosas and Airilin Ramirez added three hits each while combining for five runs batted in to help carry their team to a couple wins.
SAC will travel to Huntington Beach to continue their series against Golden West on Friday with another double-header starting at noon.
Due to current safety regulations, no fans are allowed at the games.
