SAC softball team moves on to next round of So Cal Regionals after sweeping Antelope Valley

The No. 4 seeded Santa Ana College softball team continued its torrid play to advance to the second round of the CCCAA SoCal Regionals after sweeping the No. 12 Antelope Valley Marauders (27-15, 8-4) in round one.

With the win, the Dons punched their ticket to the next round where they will host No. 5 Long
Beach City in a three game series starting on Friday, May 13 at 2 p.m. The second game will be Saturday at noon with a third game if necessary at 2 p.m.

Santa Ana (35-7, 20-4) scored 16 runs over the two games in the opening round of the regional while holding one of the best offensive teams in the state to just two runs.

Sophomore pitcher Emily Rosas picked up both wins as she continued to dominate opponents while in the circle. The Orange Empire Conference Pitcher of the Year struck out 16 batters and allowed just two runs in 12 innings of work.

The Dons had production throughout their lineup with 19 hits, 14 runs batted in and nine walks in the series.

Freshman infielder Vinnie Robles came up big with four of those hits to go along with two runs and a couple of RBI.

Sophomore catcher Iyari Ramirez had a team high four runs batted in through the two games sophomore infielder Jojo Westerfield continued to rake in the middle of the lineup with three hits and three runs batted in.

Tickets for the next round are $12 for adults and $8 for students, faculty and staff and senior citizens 60 and over children under 12.
