Northwood’s baseball team couldn’t get much going offensively and had some defensive lapses that led to runs in an 8-0 loss to El Rancho Tuesday in a second round CIF Division 6 playoff game at Northwood.

“We had a rough day defensively, which led to a lot of the runs,” said Northwood Coach Ben Owens. “El Rancho deserves the credit playing a clean game both defensively and offensively.”
Gabriel Ibasitas, Bert Chubb and Noah Kim each had a hit for Northwood (14-16).
Northwood had a strong second half of league play to reach the playoffs and defeated Shadow Hills 14-7 in the opening round.
“This group fought hard the back half of the year to make the playoffs and we just finally had a day off,” Owens said. “It hurts to lose but the group will bounce back heading into the off-season.”
El Rancho (18-12) moves on to the quarterfinals to face Trinity Classical Academy Friday.
