CIF baseball second round playoff highlights, scores for OC teams; quarterfinal schedule

DIVISION 1

CYPRESS 8, SIERRA CANYON 0: Coach John Weber’s Centurions stayed alive in the double elimination tournament to advance into Friday’s quarterfinals at Harvard Westlake.

Drew Slevcove earned the win for Cypress, striking out 11 and allowing four hits in seven innings.

Jake DeLaquill was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored, Tyler Vladic was 4 for 4 with two RBI and a stolen base, Ivan Ortiz was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI, Noah Johnson was 1 for 4 with an RBI, Hibiki Suzuki was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Jae-Ho Park 2 for 4 with a run scored and Landon Anderson 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead Cypress (23-8).

DIVISION 2

FOOTHILL 3, SERVITE 0: Foothill advanced into the quarterfinals for the second year in a row with a win Tuesday in the second round. Caden Lauridsen pitched a complete game, allowing one hit and striking out five.

Offensively, Foothill was led by Jaxon Foshay who was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk; Brayden Bianchi, who was 1 for 3 with an RBI; AJ Nagler who was 2 for 3 with a double; Everett Rycroft, who was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI; Jason Gugino, who was 1 for 3 with a run scored and Aidan Gogley, who was 1 for 1 with a double.

Foothill (19-11) plays at Yucaipa in the quarterfinals Friday.

DIVISION 3

FULLERTON 7, CORONA DEL MAR 6: Fullerton advanced to the quarterfinals and Indians coach Shaun Hill earned his 100th career victory. Zayir Miramontez pitched three innings, striking out three and allowing no earned runs to earn the win. Mason Park was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Lucas Delgadillo was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI.

Fullerton (17-12) plays at Agoura (17-13) in the quarterfinals Friday.

AGOURA 3, PACIFICA 0: Pacifica (16-13) was unable to get its offense going on Tuesday at home against Agoura Hills (17-13).

Both Pacifica and Agoura Hills received great pitching performances in the fast paced pitcher’s duel. 

Junior left-hander Cash Matlock gave Pacifica a solid starting performance going 4⅓ innings giving up three runs on only two hits while striking out five. Senior Brody Jakel also had a strong outing for Pacifica pitching 2⅔ scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.

Jakel also lifted Pacifica at the plate going 1 for 3 with a single and a stolen base. Pacifica got a boost offensively from senior catcher Chuck Gonzalez who got on base in all three of his at-bats going 2 for 2 with two singles and a walk.

Agoura Hills starting pitcher Zach Partee threw a complete game shutout striking out two while walking four batters and only allowing four hits over his seven innings. Partee was also able to work his way out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to close out the game.

Senior center fielder Tyler Starling was 1 for 3 with a three RBI double in the top of the third inning giving the Chargers a 3-0 lead which proved to be the only runs of the game. Agoura Hills lead-off hitter Braden Oliver got on base twice with two walks and a run scored.

Agoura HIlls will host Fullerton Friday in the quarterfinals.

DIVISION 4

LAGUNA BEACH 7, WOODBRIDGE 2: Laguna Beach, which lost two Pacific Coast League games to Woodbridge, came back Tuesday with a win in the second round at Laguna Beach.

The Breakers jumped out to a 7-0 lead after four innings. Woodbridge scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings but stranded 10 runners.

Branson Wade earned the win for Laguna Beach, allowing seven hits and one run in six innings. He struck out seven and walked two. Aaron Crosby came in and pitched a scoreless seventh inning for Laguna Beach (18-11).

Kyle Underwood, Caden Camacho and Vincent DeMarco pitched for Woodbridge, the Pacific Coast League champion.

Dylan Yencho was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBI to lead Laguna Beach, which had 10 hits. Otis Boultinghouse was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Jacob Wicker 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and Wade had an RBI.

JJ Metcalf and Caden Camacho had the RBI for Woodbridge, which had seven hits.

Laguna Beach plays at Moorpark in the quarterfinals Friday.

IRVINE 3, CITRUS VALLEY 2: The Vaqueros knocked off the top-seed and turned a triple play in the second inning that turned the game around. Irvine plays Cathedral Friday in the quarterfinals at East Los Angeles College. See OC Sports Zone’s coverage.
