Orange County boys basketball highlights and final scores for Saturday, Dec. 28

ORANGE HOLIDAY CLASSIC

IRVINE 56, SHADOW RIDGE 44: Irvine (15-2) earned a spot in the championship game Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Orange. Cooper Stearns had 22 points, 13 rebounds and six assists and Jackson Shaffer nine points to lead the Vaqueros.

TUSTIN HOLIDAY CLASSIC

NEWPORT HARBOR 48, TUSTIN 43: The Sailors (13-4) advance into the championship game Monday night. Jack Berry scored 14 points and Gavin Guy had six points and four rebounds to lead the Sailors. Moe Hernandez scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Terrelle Morales scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds for Tustin.

Newport Harbor will face Edison Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Tustin in the final. Also Monday, Tustin meets Tesoro in the third place game at 6 p.m., Laguna Hills faces Live Oak at 3 p.m. and Mission Viejo meets Grants Pass at 4:30 p.m.

TESORO 58, LAGUNA HILLS 50: The Titans (12-6) were led by Max Draper, who had 14 points and seven rebounds. Riley Konick had nine points, Randy Wandji six points, six rebounds and two blocks and Owen Hatch eight points.

SEGERSTROM 65, LOARA 50: The Jaguars (8-7) earned a spot in the championship game on Monday vs. Katella.

SUNNY HILLS 56, TROY 49: The Lancers were led by Kamron Tonga with 16 points. Ze’brien Watkins had 13 points and Raeden Bobadilla 10 points for Sunny Hills (13-7) which captured third place.

MARINA 52, PACIFICA CHRISTIAN/SANTA MONICA 36 (championship): Marina’s Dylan Gomez was named tournament MVP.

Apple Valley 62, Western 47

MT. CARMEL TOURNAMENT

TRABUCO HILLS 55, ADELANTO 32: The Mustangs were led by Ryan Hull, who scored 13 points and made 5 of 5 field goals. Tai Gan had 10 points and Bo Clark and Scott Warnick seven points each for Trabuco Hills (8-9).

SAN CLEMENTE 59, LB CABRILLO 36: Christian Fernandez had 22 points, Porter Hansen 19 points and Chase Tolliver seven points and 12 rebounds to lead the Tritons (12-4).

SANTA MARGARITA 88, LOS ALAMITOS 81: The Eagles (11-2) earned a win in the Platinum Division Saturday. Brayden Kyman scored 23 points and grabbed six rebounds, Kaiden Bailey had 19 points, four assists and five rebounds, Dallas Washington had 18 points and seven rebounds and Drew Anderson 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists to lead Santa Margarita. Santa Margarita faces Corona Centennial Monday for the consolation championship.

WASHINGTON PREP 61, SAN JUAN HILLS 59: Washington Prep hit two free throws with less than a second left for the victory. Mason Hodges led San Juan Hills (11-4) with 24 points. Adam Aziz had 21 points and made 5 of 8 3-pointers.

CHATSWORTH 66, CREAN LUTHERAN 63 (OT): Crean Lutheran (4-8) was led by Hunter Caplan, who scored 34 points. Jacob Majok had 12 points and nine rebounds and Matt Ciftcikara nine points.

JESUIT 55, FOOTHILL 40: The Knights (12-4) lost in the semifinals of the Diamond Division Saturday. Kai Nixon scored 11 points, Danny Kennard eight points and Lorenzo Turner and Braeden Davidson seven points each to lead Foothill.

DESERT HOLIDAY CLASSIC

SERVITE 45, MATER DEI ACADEMY EAST (NEV) 44: The Friars (11-2) improved their record to 3-0 in the tournament.

MATER DEI 99, HOOVER 35: The Monarchs were led by Luke Barnett who set a school record for points (55) and 3-pointers (12). Demarcus Henry had 12 points and seven assists, Blake Davidson 10 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds and Malloy Smith 10 points for Mater Dei (11-3).

SAGUARO 63, ALISO NIGUEL 62: Jay Keys scored 24 points and Jayden Mysin 19 points to lead Aliso Niguel, which had a chance to win the game at the end.

TORREY PINES HOLIDAY CLASSIC

JSERRA 91, CARLSBAD 77: JSerra was led by Brannon Martinsen, who had 28 points, Jarne Eyenga who had 18 points and BJ Davis-Ray who had 17 points. JSerra moves on to the championship game Monday.

CYPRESS 84, VISTA 78 (2 OTS): Cypress captured a win in the semifinals. Ryan Gov led the Centurions with 28 points and three 3-pointers. King Birdsong had an outstanding game with 18 points and the game sealing free throws. Jackson Houston added 13 points. 

Cypress plays Francis Parker on Monday in the championship game. 

SANTA BARBARA TOURNAMENT

YORBA LINDA 83, PACIFICA 57: The Mustangs were led by Rocco Gaffoglio who had 25 points. Jordan Laws added 15 points and Holden Nagin 14 points for Yorba Linda.
