Beckman defeats Portola 37-13 in PCL opener

Beckman’s football team opened Pacific Coast League play Thursday night with a 37-13 victory over Portola at Tustin.

Omar Abdullah scored four touchdowns for Beckman, two rushing and two receiving.

In the first half, Patriots quarterback Jason Cheng threw for two TD passes to Abdullah, both  for 17 yards.

He wound up with 217 yards passing.

Portola, playing in its first PCL game, scored when quarterback Brandon Yue connected with Kaveh Wojtowich on a 46-yard TD pass in the first quarter.

Jett Daviss has a 24-yard TD run and Jamar Coleman a 31-yard field goal for Beckman.
