Former JSerra Catholic High School boys basketball star DJ Rodman, the son of ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman, made quite a name for himself with the Lions boys basketball team.
Rodman displayed many of the qualities of an MVP with his great play, teamwork and commitment to the game. We will be spotlighting a number of sports personalities in the coming months who made an impact the past two years.
Rodman finished his last game of his freshman season at Washington State playing 13 minutes, scoring six points and grabbing three rebounds in a win over Colorado in the Pac-12 Tournament, which was eventually cancelled, JSerra Coach Keith Wilkinson said earlier this year.
Rodman played in 26 games for the Cougars. In his first game against Seattle University on Nov. 7, he scored five points and grabbed two rebounds.
Before moving on to college, Rodman was well respected at JSerra and made great contributions to the program, Wilkinson said.
“DJ had a huge impact at JSerra,” Wilkinson said. “He was one of the players who set the foundation of lifting the bar at JSerra.
“The thing I am most proud of is that he is an extremely bright, polite, and well rounded young man. He makes everyone around him better and is a terrific person. I can’t wait to watch him as he continues his future at Washington State.”
