OC Sports Zone: Community First

Boys basketball

TUSTIN CLASSIC

Tustin 62, Paramount 17: Tustin (9-6) was led by Johnny Sagarino, who scored 19 points. The Tillers will play Westmont Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Los Alamitos 101, Mid Pacific Hawaii 50: Los Alamitos led from the start in the game Wednesday. The Griffins have won the Tustin Classic title the last two years. William Morales (19 points), Jordan Taylor (15 points) and Tyler Lopez (13 points) led Los Alamitos. A running clock was used in the fourth quarter. Los Alamitos led 56-16 at halftime.

Damonte Ranch 58, Beckman 56: Damonte Ranch battled back from a four-point halftime deficit and held off a late comeback by Beckman. Beckman was led by Quasai Azem, who scored 17 points, 14 in the first half. Adrian Ibarra had 13 points and Cayden Do 12 points for the Patriots. Damonte Ranch was led by Jace Anderson who had 16 points and Jeriah Macias, who had 15 points.

Tesoro 64, LB Wilson 63: Carter Johnson scored 20 points, Dean Mika had 14 points and Adam Smaili 11 points, all in the fourth quarter to lead the Titans (6-9).

Calvary Chapel 77, Live Oak 45: The Eagles were led by Ben Devries, who had 26 points. Carson Franklin added 13 points.

Westmont 53, Laguna Hills 42

Mission Viejo 61, Hawaii Baptist Academy 59

ESTANCIA COAST CLASSIC

Woodbridge 64, Arlington 54: Woodbridge (8-5) was led by JC Schindler who had 19 points and five steals. Jaiden Sabino had 14 points and four assists, Stephen Lamp 13 points and four steals and Jason Briggs 12 points and seven steals.

Irvine 71, Heritage 39: The Vaqueros (8-7) were led by Cooper Stearns who had 13 points. Stearns returned to the lineup after being out with a separated shoulder. Felix Bublitz and Parth Gupta added 11 points each for Irvine.

San Clemente 64, Laguna Beach 58: Christian Fernandez had 29 points and Will Whidden 11 points to lead San Clemente.

Estancia 64, Tarbut V’ Torah 50: Nik Paraguian led Estancia with 22 points. Yonah Light had 21 points and 19 rebounds to lead TVT. Grayden Carpet had 10 points.

DAMIEN CLASSIC

Jesuit 72, Crean Lutheran 61: The Saints (5-6) were led by Kaiden Bailey, who had 28 points.

Northwood 66, Bonita 59: The Timberwolves moved into the semifinals of their division with a win. Zaid Yunis had 22 points and four rebounds, Ryan Abaye had 17 points and nine assists and TJ Navarro 14 points to lead Northwood.

Lehi 57, Foothill 51: The Knights were led by Travis Paleo who had 18 points and three rebounds. Isaiah Bernard had 11 points, five assists and four rebounds and Kai Nixon six points for the Knights.

TORREY PINES NATIONAL CLASSIC

JSerra 72, Torrey Pines 45: The Lions (13-0) were led by Aidan Fowler, who had 18 points and Ben Rabara, who had 16 points in the opening round of the tournament.

Archbishop Mitty 43, Santa Margarita 38: Brayden Kyman scored 10 points and DeMarco Johnson nine points to lead Santa Margarita.

Aliso Niguel 56, Brawley 43: The Wolverines (12-3) were led by Jay Keys, who scored 17 points, Francis Ramos who had 12 points and Garrett Trayer, who had 11 points.

DESERT HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Servite 59, Yucca Valley 36: The Friars were led by CJ Landazabal, who had 15 points. Alex Pak had 11 points and RJ Chastang 10 points.

Mater Dei 95, Hoover 65: The Monarchs (10-1) were led by Owen Verna, who had 20 points and five 3-pointers and Brandon Benjamin, who had 16 points and eight rebounds. Blake Davidson had 14 points, Brannon Martinsen 13 points and Luke Barnett 12 points for Mater Dei.

MT. CARMEL TOURNEY

El Dorado 48, Eastlake 43: The Golden Hawks (10-5) were led by Noah Barker, who had 15 points and nine rebounds and Caleb Hendrix, who had 14 points and eight rebounds.

LAS VEGAS PREP CHAMPIONSHIPS

Cypress 52, Rancho High Nevada 46: The Centurions defeated the No. 8 ranked team in Nevada Wednesday.

“We got in foul trouble early and our guys off the bench came in and matched the intensity of the game,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “I’m very proud of our guys, they really competed today.  Rancho was a good game for us to compete and win against.”

Jonah Kim led Cypress with 17 points. Ryan Gov added 13 points and Michael Wright nine points.

Portola 68, California 39: Portola (12-2) was led by Kira Watanabe and Nina Saiki who scored 18 points each.

SAN DIEGO SO CAL HOLIDAY PREP CLASSIC

Diamond Bar 55, Canyon 48: Canyon was led by Justine Prajitno who had 18 points and Sofia Majidi, who had 12 points.

Woodbridge 67, Heritage 60 (OT): Milan Heisdorf had 19 points, Hana Watanabe 16 points and Lizzie Yasui 13 points to lead Woodbridge (10-4).
