Beckman High School’s football players and coaches welcomed Washington Commanders quarterback coach and NFL quarterback trainer Steve Calhoun, for a program-wide skills clinic last week, according to Patriots head coach Marcello Giuliano.
“Coach Calhoun has been working with college and pro quarterbacks for 20 years, including Super Bowl champions Russell Wilson and Nick Foles,” Giuliano said.

“Coach joined the team for a quarterback/wide receiver training session focused on fundamental skills, sharing the drills and coaching points he uses with his NFL players. He also shared the importance and focus on the fundamental skills that are the foundation of precision execution at every level of the game. Â
“It was a special learning opportunity for the entire program, giving a window into the individual preparation and work ethic it takes to develop your performance no matter the level of competition. The lessons on the detailed precision of seemingly minor coaching points was both educational and inspirational for all of our players.”
Beckman opens the season on Friday, Aug. 26 at Bellflower.
