Newport Harbor’s boys basketball team took the title at the St. Margaret’s Tourney.
Newport Harbor’s boys basketball team Sailors won the St. Margaret’s tournament championship Saturday night, defeating University 71-58.

Dayne Chalmers had 28 points to lead Newport Harbor (9-1). Robbie Spooner had 25 points hitting four 3-pointers and Sam Barela had 9 assists.
Barela was named tournament MVP averaging 8 assists a game. Spooner was named to the all-tournament team averaging after averaging 20 points a game.
Kody Uyesugi and Will Stenta led University (6-4) with 14 points each.
Newport Harbor limited Uyesugi to seven 3-point field goals, according to University Coach Mike Dinneen. He made three of them.
“They did a good job of slowing down our fast break,” Dinneen said. “We did not do a very good job of attacking the basket.”
Uyesugi and Andrea Roy were named to the all-tournament team.
