LAGUNA HILLS 3, UNIVERSITY 0: Scotty Kato pitched a complete game allowing one hit and striking out seven to lead the Hawks, who are in second place behind Pacific Coast League leader Woodbridge, which had a bye.
Vinny Garcia was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Billy Schellenberg was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Travis Williams 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Hawks (14-4).
“Scotty did a great job for us today,” said Laguna Hills Coach Drew Hillman. “He set the tone early on and we followed it.”
BECKMAN 7, PORTOLA 0: AJ Roettger got his first win for the Patriots going five innings and scattering three hits. Wyatt Zadoorian and Tyler Bailey threw the sixth and seventh innings.
Beckman (13-5) was led offensively by Ken Tomitaka, who was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI and Diego Hernandez, who was 3 for 3 with two RBI.
“It was a nice, tidy victory,” said Beckman Coach Kevin Lavalle. “We played well, threw strikes, and executed the offense.”
IRVINE 19, NORTHWOOD 7: The Vaqueros (11-7) rolled to their sixth straight victory in the Pacific Coast League with a victory at Northwood. Please click here for photos and a game story.
OCEAN VIEW 8, SAN JUAN HILLS 1: The Seahawks (14-6) got a strong pitching performance from Kai Marden, who pitched four strong innings in the non-league game. Caleb Hohman had a three-run home run in the first inning to get the Seahawks started offensively.
