PCL football: Woodbridge tops Irvine 23-17 in a thriller

Irvine’s football team gets ready to take on Woodbridge tonight.

It’s a big night in the Pacific Coast League with two more openers.

Woodbridge defeated Irvine 23-17. Nikos Reza had a 7-yard TD run with 5:04 left.

Irvine and Woodbridge were tied 10-10 at halftime. Woodbridge took a 3-0 lead on a 29-yard field goal by Jakob Trestik.

Irvine tied it up 7-7 when quarterback Marc Filia connected with Jacob Haley on a 75-yard TD pass.

Woodbridge regained the lead 10-7 on a 16-yard TD pass from Kyle Hurry to Jacob Nash. Irvine tied it up 10-10 on a 24-yard field goal by Bryce Tanikawa.
