BOYS

Empire League

Crean Lutheran 52, Tustin 45: Kaiden Bailey scored 16 points and had three rebounds to lead Crean Lutheran in the Empire League opener Tuesday at Crean Lutheran. Patrick Miranda had nine points and Kenneth Bailey five points and seven rebounds for the Saints.

Tustin (13-6, 0-1) was led by Eli Nyeazi, who had 22 points and 11 rebounds and Josh Birket who had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Cypress 60, Valencia 54: The Centurions opened league play with a win Tuesday. Valencia made five three points in the first quarter and 12 in the game.

Kason White led Cypress with 16 points. Michael Wright had 14 points and Hayden Roberts 10 points.

“Danny’s (Coach Ortega) guys were knocking down threes all game,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “We could never get any momentum going. They would come down and make a three every time we started gaining any momentum. I’m proud of our guys, we didn’t panic when they went on their run in the first quarter and locked in defensively during the second to take the lead at half.”

Pacifica 42, Kennedy 28

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE

Woodbridge 44, Irvine 43: Woodbridge held off a scoring threat in the final seconds for their third league win without a loss.

Portola 66, Northwood 59: The Bulldogs (12-8, 1-1) were led by Colin Huang who had 26 points and Jayden Villanueva who had 12 points. Devin Daniel added 11 points. Zaid Yunis had 33 points and Ryan Abaye 11 points to lead Northwood (10-11, 1-2).

Sage Hill 58, Beckman 54

Century Conference

El Dorado 56, Yorba Linda 38: The Golden Hawks (13-8) were led by Cooper Bladow who had 19 points and three 3-point field goals. Yorba Linda was led by Derek Engram, who had 13 points.

Foothill 65, Villa Park 56: The Knights (18-1) won their 13th game in a row. Isaiah Bernard had 23 points, 11 rebounds and two assists and Carlo Billings had 10 points and four assists.

El Modena 63, Brea Olinda 47

Canyon 81, Esperanza 47

GOLDEN WEST LEAGUE

Segerstrom 60, Ocean View 51: The Jaguars won their second straight league game. Chris Negrete scored 17 points and Jalen Cervantes 16 to lead Segerstrom.

FREEWAY LEAGUE

La Habra 62, Fullerton 57: The Highlanders (15-5, 2-1) were led by Acen Jimenez, who had 24 points and four steals. Grayson Sinek had 13 points and four steals and Jaedeon Anderson had 12 points and four rebounds.

SAN JOAQUIN LEAGUE

Pacifica Christian 54, San Gabriel Academy 42: Parker Strauss scored 11 points, had nine points, four assists and four steals to lead the Tritons (14-7). Alex Stewart had 11 points and nine rebounds and Salim Semaan scored nine points. Tanner Deal and Logan Stewart had eight points each.

NON-LEAGUE

Fairmont SJC 80, Tarbut V’ Torah 67: Yonah Light led TVT (8-4) with 18 points. Jake Coblentz-Brown had 17, Isaac Joelson 14 and Ari Varon 11. Charles Harmish of Fairmont (11-10) led all scorers with 43 including and made 16 of 16 free throws.

GIRLS

NON-LEAGUE

Woodbridge 61, Irvine 30: Woodbridge was led by Teagan Burrus, who scored 19 points and Hana Watanabe, who had eight points.

Portola 87, Northwood 46: Kira Watanabe led Portola with 17 points and eight assists. Nina Saiki had 12 points and Kalynne Abraham Mendez 11 points. Northwood was led by Uma Joshi with 14 points and Abby Chu with 12 points.

EMPIRE LEAGUE

Crean Lutheran 59, Tustin 29: The Saints won their league opener Tuesday night. Jane Hewitt scored 19 points and Quinsey Bryan 14 points to lead Crean Lutheran (11-8, 1-0).
