Cypress, Tesoro, Tustin, San Clemente, Santa Margarita, Foothill, Los Al and Yorba Linda notch Friday wins

CYPRESS 45, VALENCIA: The Centurions captured an Empire League victory on the road Friday night.

“Danny (Coach Ortega) has his guys playing so hard,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “We didn’t match their intensity tonight. Our guys showed some grit in the end. This game taught us how to win a close game.”

Jonah Kim had 11 points and made three of three 3-pointers while Kody Papke had eight points and hit two 3-pointers to lead Cypress (10-10, 2-1).

Valencia (3-11, 0-2) was led by Noah Meagher, who had 11 points and Aaron Hughes, who scored 10 points.

TESORO 46, TRABUCO HILLS 41: The Titans (19-3, 4-0) were led by Kyle Gleason, who scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, Carson Brown, who had 11 points and seven assists and Nathan Draper, who had nine points and five rebounds.

TUSTIN 31, KENNEDY 23: The TIllers (16-6, 2-1) recorded an Empire League win Friday night. Eli Nyeazi scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Tustin.

Kennedy fell to 7-10 overall and 2-1 in league play.

SAN CLEMENTE 79, UNIVERSITY 45: The Tritons (12-6) were led by Charlie Spaeth with 17 points. Asher Gardiner scored 15 poits and Tanner Mehrens 13 for San Clemente in the non-league game.

SANTA MARGARITA 48, ST. JOHN BOSCO 46, OT: The Eagles (13-1, 2-1) won the Trinity League game in overtime on a basket by Ethan Rhee. Rockwell Reynolds sent the game into overtime with a basket.

FOOTHILL 49, CANYON 46: The Knights (17-1) were led by Cruz Billings, who scored 12 points. Braedeyn Benhard had eight points and eight rebounds and Jack Horton scored seven points.

LOS ALAMITOS 57, LAGUNA BEACH 46: The Griffins wereled by Tyler Matthews, who scored 18 points and Christian Bermudez who had 13 points. Los Alamitos (13-4, 1-0) plays Marina High Saturday.

YORBA LINDA 60, ESPERANZA 47: The Mustangs (11-11) were led by Jason Cassachia who had 12 points and Andrew DeZeeuw, who had 11 points.
