Rancho Alamitos High School’s baseball squad will host Oxford Academy of Cypress Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. in a CIF Divison 8 semifinal game at Rancho Alamitos, according to Rancho Alamitos Athletic Director Anh Than.
The game was originally scheduled to be at Los Amigos because of Thursday’s tank incident in Garden Grove but will now be back at Rancho Alamitos, Than said.
Ace pitcher Henry Garcia, who has pitched a no-hitter and a perfect game, is expected to start on the mound Tuesday for Rancho Alamitos.
The winner of Friday’s semifinal faces the winner of the Schurr vs. Duarte game.
Friday’s quarterfinal game was also moved to neighboring Los Amigos. The Vaqueros (14-11) defeated Chadwick 4-2.
Oxford Academy (12-18) advanced to the semfinals with a 7-6 victory over Cornerstone Christian Friday in the quarterfinals.
The Patriots, who finished second in the 605 League with an 8-2 record behind league champion Cerritos, also defeated Desert Christian 3-1 and Rosemead 4-3 in the playoffs.
There are two teams with nicknames of Vaqueros in the semifinals. Gabriel Cota’s Irvine Vaqueros are in the semifinals along with Coach Sammy Macias’ Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros.
In the Division 1 semifinals, Notre Dame is at Norco and Harvard Westlake plays at St. John Bosco Tuesday.
The CIF finals are scheduled for Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30 at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field and Loan Mart Field in Rancho Cucamonga.
