Corona del Mar’s star wide receiver John Humpreys announced on Twitter Monday night that he was excited to be invited to the All-American Bowl featuring top players from around the country in San Antonio on Saturday, Jan. 5.
Humphreys said on Twitter: “….childhood dream turned into a reality. Thank you to everyone that has helped me get to this point.”
CdM Coach Dan O’Shea confirmed the selection Tuesday for the Stanford bound Humphreys.
“John was awarded that most prestigious honor, a first for CdM,” O’Shea said. “If you were going to start a team that is a collection of the very best players in the country, you would certainly want the very best all-around, pure football player in California…and there is very little doubt that is John Humphreys every day of the week.”
The game will be televised live on NBC.
Humphreys and his CdM teammates face Serra of San Mateo in the CIF State 1A title game Saturday at 4 p.m. at Cerritos College.
