CIF officials announced Friday that high school boys volleyball is scheduled to return on Saturday, March 13, pending approval from the California Department of Public Health.
The announcement comes after officials with the CIF State Office announced that the Southern regional playoffs will begin on Saturday, June 12.
“The CIF State Office has announced the dates for CIF Boys Volleyball Regionals, so we are now preparing to go forward with the Southern Section boys volleyball season this spring,” the CIF Southern Section release said.
Teams would be allowed 28 contests during the regular season. Two scrimmages would also be allowed.
Under the CIF Southern Section plan, the last league match would be on Thursday, May 13 and the last league contest would be Saturday, May 15.
The CIF playoffs would begin Tuesday, May 18 with wild card matches. CIF finals are scheduled for Saturday, June 5.
It appears the current stay at home order would need to be lifted for competition to begin.
Most of the boys volleyball season was cancelled last year after the coronavirus pandemic struck.
