Beckman senior Dylan Thoerner has made a decision about his future.
Beckman’s standout basketball player Dylan Thoerner has committed to play college basketball at Tufts University in Boston, his father Scott said Friday.
“Coach (Bob) Sheldon at Tufts University has gained an outstanding young man for their program,” said Beckman Coach John Goins.
“Dylan will leave Beckman as our all-time leading scorer, on pace to finish with over 1,600 points for his three-year varsity career. His tremendous work ethic both in the classroom and on the basketball court has allowed him to continue his career at one of the most selective universities in the United States and receive an education and experience which will serve him for the rest of his life.
“I look forward to following both his playing and professional career and wish him all the best.”
Thoerner is averaging 19.6 points and 6.7 rebounds a game and is hoping to lead the Patriots to their first Pacific Coast League title (see how Beckman did Friday night against Northwood by clicking here). He also plays for the Cali Rebels travel ball club team.
Thoerner’s father said his parents are proud of his accomplishments.
“He has worked extremely hard academically to maintain a 4.6 GPA (in fact, since the first grade he’s earned all A’s), all of this while playing multiple sports – earning varsity letters in both basketball and baseball at Beckman,” Scott Thoerner said.
