Quarterback Hayden McKenna looking for another big year leading Laguna Hills

Laguna Hills High School football team will be led offensively by senior quarterback Hayden McKenna, who is looking to have another big season.

“Hayden is on track to have a very good senior year,” said Hawks’ Coach Mike Maceranka. “He was all-league and a team captain as junior. He is one of the hardest workers I have been around.

“His leadership is what bonds our strong senior class. Being such a high academic student athlete he will have several opportunities to play at the next level at some of the top academic universities in the country. He has a 4.3 GPA and 1330 SAT.”

The 6-0, 175-pound McKenna also appears to have a promising collegiate future after graduating from Laguna Hills.

“Currently he is gaining interest from Yale, University of San Diego, Redlands and Chapman,” Maceranka said. “I have received many calls and Emails about him and many are interested and waiting on his senior video. He had planned to attend several college camps at the request of the coaching staffs and it was a bit disappointing he could not participate since they were all cancelled.”

Laguna Hills returns to the Pacific Coast League this season. The Hawks’ first game is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, but like all other games, could be pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic.
