Northwood High’s star defensive lineman Xavier Cousar committed Tuesday to play college football at Long Beach City College, according to Northwood Coach Paige Nobles.
Nobles describes Cousar as the Pacific Coast League’s “most dominating and decorated class of 2020 senior defensive player.”
Cousar was the 2019 PCL defensive player of the year and was also a two-time All-CIF player. Cousar, the Timberwolves’ MVP, led Northwood in tackles with 68 in eight games. He was selected to play in the 2020 Blue/Grey All-American Bowl played in Dallas at AT&T Stadium and in the North-South Orange County all-star football game.
“Even though this young man was feared on the football field and Xavier would be double teamed and tripled team because he could not be contained this young man is a gentle giant with such a huge heart and a smile that could light up any room he walked in,” Coach Nobles said. “Saying that Xavier would and will be missed is an understatement.
“Xavier, on behalf of your teammates and all your coaches we wish you nothing but success as you take your next steps towards your goal of playing in the NFL one day.”
