Weekend wrap-up: CdM and Orange Lutheran win titles; Uni and Sunny Hills notch victories

Corona del Mar’s boys basketball team captured the championship at the Artesia Tournament defeating Palos Verdes 71-67 Saturday afternoon.

Jack Stone of CdM scored 30 points and was named the tourney MVP. Stone made 17 three-point field goals and connected on 28 of 29 free throws.

Asher Hamilton and Jack McKenna were also named all-tournament after strong weeks for the Sea Kings (4-1).

Orange Lutheran 71, Cypress 61: The Lancers (5-2) won the championship at the Coyote Classic at Buena Park High School. Orange Lutheran (6-2) was led by Tibet Goerner with 27 points and Eric Goodrich with 23 points.

Cypress was led by Eddie Spencer with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Christian Chai had 18 points and four 3-Pointers.

Edison 71. Foothill 48: The Chargers won their last game in the Grizzly Invitational. Connor Collins was named all-tournament.

University 60, Woodbridge 54: The Trojans outscored the Warrionrs by six in the final quarter of the Diablo Inferno game.

Kody Uyesugi scored 22 points. Sam Aryan had 13 points to lead University (3-6). Woodbidge (0-7) was led by Elijah Kim with 19 points, Steven Mimpiya with 12 and Eli Hill with 11 points.

Sunny Hills 62, Garden Grove 58: The Lancers improved their record to 5-4 and captured the consolation title at the Los Amigos Winter Classic. Manny Seddoh was named to the all-tournamen team.

San Juan Hills 75, Capo Valley Christian 61: Adam Weingard scored 23 points and led the Stallions to the victory at the Diablo Inferno. Weingard was named to the all-tournament team. He averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds a game in the tournament.

Newport Harbor 64 Aliso Niguel 54: Newport Harbor (7-2) took third place in the Grizzly Invitational. Josh Sandy and Levi Darrow 15 points had 15 points each and Robbie Spooner 13 points. Ryan Miller was named to the all-tournament team.
