The Warriors began practice on Thursday.

“Because we return so few on offense, we’re just trying to get things in order and figure out who is going to do what,” said Woodbridge Coach Rick Gibson. “The personnel we have and how we are going to adapt to that is probably our number one priority.”

The two quarterbacks are seniors Tate Smith and Ethan Assayag.

“They’ve kind of waited their turn,” Gibson said. “And they are both very competitive towards it and want to win the position. At this time, they are in a dead heat. Each has their set of strengths so we’re trying to figure out which one will pull the trigger.”

It’s possible that the two could share the quarterbacking duties too, Gibson said.

“I’m not of the thought that you have to have the same person lead you throughout. I’ve done it in the past where I’ve switched quarterbacks throughout,” he said.

Gibson said the defense appears solid.

“Defensely, I feel pretty comfortable about because we return a lot of defensive players,” he said. “I’m excited to see how we do this Friday what we will do in the scrimmage (at Dana Hills).”
