Orange County boys basketball highlights and final scores Friday, Dec. 6

PORTOLA-WOODBRIDGE CLASSIC

LA HABRA 68, CHURCHIE (AUSTRALIA) VARSITY 64: The Highlanders (8-1) were led by Acen Jimenez, who scored 26 points. Sebastian Esparza had 13 points, Jaeden Anderson nine points and Charlie Moreland eight points.

SAN CLEMENTE 71, WOODBRIDGE 24: The Tritons (2-1) were led by Christian Fernandez, who had 21 points, PorterHansen who had 16 points and Davis Blake who had eight points. Nate Hill led Woodbridge (6-4). The Warriors were without injured starters and their top two players, Jaiden Sabino and Jason Briggs, according to Coach Steve Scoggin. The two players will also miss Saturday’s game vs. La Habra at Portola, he said.

NEWPORT HARBOR 57, WARREN 43: The Sailors advanced into the championship game Saturday at 6 p.m. at Garden Grove vs. Tustin. Newport Harbor was led by Jack Berry, who scored 13 points. Owen Saukkola added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Sailors (5-2).

TUSTIN 40, SUNNY HILLS 38: Tustin (8-1) advances into the championship game vs. Newport Harbor. Tavin Epps had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Tustin, which will be competing in its second straight tournament championship game after finishing second to Irvine in the Rancho Alamitos Tournament last weekend.

Ze Brien Watkins scored 12 points and had nine rebounds and Kamron Tonga eight points and nine rebounds to lead Sunny Hills. Sunny Hills meets Warren in the third place game Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

IE CLASSIC

CYPRESS 86, INDIAN HILLS 71: The Centurions made 14 threes as a team, led by King Birdsong who had seven in the first half. He finished with 27 points. Ryan Gov added two threes and scored 16 points. Ethan Mai came in off the bench and scored 11 points with two 3-pointers.

Cypress plays in the third place game on Saturday vs Great Oak, 5 p.m. at Rancho Cucamonga.

“We executed well tonight, but we have to clean up some things in the defensive side of the ball,” said Coach Derek Mitchell. “Tomorrow will be another good test for us.”

YORBA LINDA 57, BONITA 46: The Mustangs were led by Rocco Gaffoglio, who had 26 points and Jordan Laws, who scored 12 points.

WILD WEST SHOOTOUT

PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 61, SPANISH SPRINGS, NEV. 52: The Tritons advanced into the championship game of the tournament on Saturday. Michael Noel had 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals; EJ Spillman had 12 points, five rebounds and eight assists, Logan Stewart 10 points and seven rebounds, Hudson Reynolds seven points, five rebounds, five steals and Donovan Hogan had eight points. Solomon Huang had six points and played outstanding defense.

TAKE FLIGHT CHALLENGE

JSERRA 63, MILLENNIUM (ARIZ) 61: The Lions were led by BJ Davis Ray, who scored 19 points and Dominic Bolton, who had 14 points.

NON-LEAGUE

CALIFORNIA 71, UNIVERSITY 67: California of Whittier overcame a double digit first quarter lead to win on the road at University Friday night.

The Condors (3-6) caught the Trojans in the second quarter, only relinquished the lead once in the second half and held off a late rally to secure the victory.

California was led by senior forward Kenny Renfrow (20 points), sophomore guard Jair Linares (16 points and four three pointers) and senior guard Edgar Beltran (14 points). Sophomore forward Aham Nwosu added nine points.

University (3-4) was led by its senior backcourt tandem of Shervin Moarrefian (18 points) and Isaac Evans (17 points, eight rebounds and five steals).

Senior center Eli Pretto had nine points, seven rebounds and four blocks while senior wing Faris Harb made three treys for nine points. Senior forward Denis Senbay returned to action after a two-year plus hiatus with seven points and six rebounds.

CORONA DEL MAR 57, IRVINE 56: The Sea Kings snapped a seven-game winning streak by Irvine (7-2). Irvine was led by Cooper Stearns, who had 19 points, seven rebounds and seven assists and Ali Dal who had 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Jalen Yim added 11 points.

SANTA MARGARITA 68, SAGE CREEK 49: The Eagles (5-0) were led by Brayden Kyman who had 20 points and four 3-pointers and 10 rebounds, Kaiden Bailey, who had 20 points and three steals; and Dallas Washington, who had nine points and four assists.
