Segerstrom High School’s boys basketball team, which had already clinched the Golden West League title, defeated crosstown rival Godinez 41-37 in front of a big crowd at Segerstrom Thursday night.
It was senior night at Segerstrom and the Jaguar seniors were honored before the game.
Seniors Chris Negrete (14 points) and Isiah Velasquez (12 points) led Segerstrom (14-11, 9-1).

Godinez (11-17, 5-5) was led by Lucas Andaluz, who scored 13 points; Jaiden Torres, who had seven points and Ma’Gen Young, who had six points.
Godinez wound up in a three-way tie for third place and the final CIF playoff berth. Godinez, Westminster and Katella are all tied with 5-5 records so there will a playoff on Friday, according to Godinez Athletic Director Bill Snyder.
Godniez will play Westminster at 4:30 p.m. and the winner will play Katella at 7 p.m.
