Woodbridge outfielder-pitcher Grant Martine, a first team All-Pacific Coast League player, is looking forward to competing for San Jose State University’s baseball team in two seasons.
Martine, who completed his junior year with the Warriors, committed earlier this year to play for the Spartans, according to Woodbridge Coach Ryan Brucker.
“I chose San Jose State because I was impressed with the new coaching staff and how they made me feel right at home,” Martine said.
Martine added the Spartans will allow him to hit and pitch, “which was a big factor to me. Overall the Bay Area is one of the best places to be in California.”
Martine had a .417 batting average with five doubles, one triple, one home run, 13 RBI and 14 runs scored.
“We are extremely proud of Grant and with the season he had this past spring,” Brucker said. “He has earned this opportunity, and there is no question he has the ability to compete at the Division I level. The Spartans are getting a quality player who can help them with his bat and on the mound. Grant has worked extremely hard to put himself in this position, and I think the San Jose State program is a great fit for him.”
