Woodbridge High School senior guard Hana Watanabe reached the 1,000 point mark in her career in Wednesday’s game at the Segerstrom Tournament.
Watanabe had 19 points and Milan Heisdorf 12 points in the 69-46 loss to Cerritos.
“Hana has been a starter on our varsity team since her freshman year; each year, her skills have exponentially grown, especially the last couple of seasons, as team captain, which has earned her the respect of her teammates,” said Woodbridge Coach Keith Clarkson.
“This year, she is not only averaging 14 points per game, and with her leading the team, it is like having another coach on the floor. A player with her skillset is rare, and does not come around often.”Â
Clarkson said he doesn’t believe Watanabe has made plans to compete in college yet.
Woodbridge (5-4) meets Cypress Thursday at 4:45 p.m. at the Segerstrom Tournament.
