PORTOLA 76, CERRITOS 59: The Bulldogs won their CIF 3AA opening round game at Portola Thursday night. Allyson Tabayoyong scored 39 points (school record) and made nine 3-pointers, also a school record. She now has 1,002 career points at Portola, the first player to achieve that mark.
Moka Saiki added 16 points for Portola. Cerritos was led by Jasmine Uy, who had 16 points and Emily Hosoda and Michelle Lee, who had 10 points each.
Portola plays at Lancaster Saturday in the second round.
WOODBRIDGE 57, LASALLE 47: The Warriors won their CIF 2A playoff opener at Woodbridge Wednesday night. Hana Watanabe led Woodbridge in scoring with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Teagan Burrus added 10 points and Anna Jensen had nine points.
“I felt we played a very nice game on the defensive end,” said Woodbridge Coach Keith Clarkson. “We were able to jump out to an early lead (16-8 after the first quarter) and then was able to hold the lead. I felt Ashley Cheng had a great game defending their top scorer for the majority of the game. This team is very well balanced and we have many players that can contribute every night. We had seven ifferent players score.”
Woodbridge (11-3) moves on to the second round Saturday to face the winner of the West Covina-Twentynine Palms game that will be played Thursday night.
