Woodbridge, Beckman, Crean Lutheran and Sonora capture second round victories

WOODBRIDGE 65, CHINO HILLS 58: Woodridge’s girls basketball team earned a road victory in the second round of the CIF 2AA playoffs Wednesday night. Hana Watanabe scored 16 points Teagan Burrus had 12 points and Lexi Gadea 12 points to lead Woodbridge.

Woodbridge (23-4) was behind nearly the entire game, according to Woodbridge Coach Keith Clarkson.

The Warriors trailed 32-24 at halftime and 43-40 after three quarters before taking their first lead with about five minutes remaining in the game.

Woodbridge made nine of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter, including the last six with under two minutes remaining.

Woodbridge hosts top-seeded Orange Lutheran Saturday night in the quarterfinals. Orange Lutheran defeated Chaparral Wednesday night 56-35.

BECKMAN 67, CRESCENTA VALLEY 51: The Patriots (16-9) earned a win in the second round of the CIF 2A playoffs at home. Caitlin Muller scored 16 points and Miranda Yu 14 points to lead Beckman.

CREAN LUTHERAN 69, GLENDORA 35: The Saints, who had a bye in the first round, won their 2AA second round playoff game Wednesday at home. Taylor Feldman scored 21 points and Jane Hewitt 13 points to lead the Saints, who play at Sonora Saturday.

SONORA 47, DOWNEY 43: The Raiders (20-6) captured their second round 2AA playoff game Wednesday. Kiana Graham scored 16 points and Jazmin Sheikh 12 points to lead Sonora, who hosts Crean Lutheran Saturday.

CALABASAS 56, CYPRESS 54: Calabasas won at the buzzer in the second round of the CIF 3AA playoffs at Cypress. Cypress (21-9) was led by Isabella Caceres, who had 13 points. Myia Collins and Sara Shigekawa had nine points each and Jan Lim and Jasmine Arnold had eight points each.
