Woodbridge High’s baseball team began the season Monday night sweeping Valencia in a non-league doubleheader at Valencia.
The doubleheader was rained out on Saturday and made up Monday.
Woodbridge won the first game 7-2. Sophomore Jack Bunnell earned his first varsity win in his first career start going five innings, striking out 10 and he did not walk a batter.
Senior Aaron Swartz and sophomore Connor Tallakson pitched well out of the bullpen to secure the victory, according to Coach Ryan Brucker.

The Warriors won the second game 4-1.
Senior Aanan Ramanathan earned his first varsity victory in his first varsity start, going 4 2/3 innings scattering five hits and striking out six.
“Defensively we turned three double plays in the game highlighted by Will Rudy’s diving stop up the middle in the third inning that resulted in a 6-4-3 (play) to end the frame,” Brucker said.
Offensively, sophomore Connor Tallakson was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Derek Santa Cruz was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
