VILLA PARK 5, YORBA LINDA 1: The Spartans got a strong pitching performance from Benny Vogel who pitched a completed game, allowing four hits. He gave up one run and struck out 10. Brady Watson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Jack Burke was 2 for 3 with an RBIfor Villa Park (11-4).
LAGUNA HILLS 5, PORTOLA 1: The Hawks (10-2) moved into undisputed second place in the Pacific Coast League, one game behind league-leading Woodbridge, which defeated Beckman 6-4 in eight innings.
Billy Schellenberg was 2 for 4 with two RBI and Scott Kato 1 for 4 with two RBI to lead the Hawks. Kato also pitched two innings and did not allow a run while striking out three.
Mike Burke pitched five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out five for Laguna Hills.
“Both Kato and Burke did a great job of throwing strikes and competing for us on the mound,” said Laguna Hills Coach Drew Hillman. “Kato clutched up in the seventh with a two-RBI hit that gave us a little more breathing room.”

FULLERTON 2, LA HABRA 1: The Indians (7-5) won the series from the Highlanders. Sebastian Fany got the victory, allowing one run and three hits in four innings. He struck out three. E.J. Ayala recorded the save strking out three. Bryce Mays led the hitting attack going 3 for 4 with an RBI.
TESORO 4, NEWPORT HARBOR 2: The Titans evened their record at 7-7. Ryan Gow was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBI and also got the save. Chris Adams pitched two scoreless innings with two strikeouts to get the victory.
