Valencia, Cypress, Tesoro, Newport, Portola, Crean Lutheran and San Juan Hills win

Valencia’s boys basketball team won its second consecutive Empire League game, defeating Kennedy 51-26 Friday night.

Valencia (16-4, 2-0) was led by Andre Ford with 12 points, Mikey Palacios with 11 points and Andy Hon with 10 points.

Valencia played strong defense against Kennedy (12-5, 0-2) holding the Fighting Irish to nine points in the first half.

Cypress 70, Pacifica 46: The Centurions were in control from the start to run their Empire League mark to 2-0. Eddie Spencer scored 21 points and had five 3-pointers in three quarters. Alex Gutierrez scored eight points with two 3-pointers. Christian Chai had seven points, four assists and three steals.

Tesoro 60, El Toro 47: The Titans led 26-22 at halftime and 44-36 after three quarters in the Sea View League game. Matt DeAngelo had 26 points and six rebounds, Kaden Garrett had 12 points and 11 rebounds, Mike Mahlen contributed 12 points and four rebounds and Kyle Ritscher eight points for Tesoro (16-3, 2-0).

Newport Harbor 68, Marina 56: The Sailors (17-4) beat Marina in a Sunset crossover game. Levi Darrow led Newport Harbor with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Miller contributed 11 points.

Crean Lutheran 59, Tustin 55: The Saints (10-6, 2-0) won their eighth game in the last nine in an Empire League contest. Drew Yezbak and Josh Shin had 17 points each and Michael Birket scored 11 points for Crean Lutheran. Tustin fell to 13-7 overall and 0-2 in league.

Portola 65, Northwood 58: The Bulldogs evened their record at 1-1 in the Pacific Coast League. Robert Giraldy scored 20 points, Mohsen Hashemi 18 points and Saif Habibeh 14 poitns.

Northwood, 0-2 in league, was led by Shandon Sharifi with 29 points, Robert Ross with 15 points and Amit Flint with 10 points.

San Juan Hills 45, Dana Hills 37: The Stallions (8-13, 2-0) won the Sea View League game behind the play of John McFadden, who had 12 points and Adam Weingard, who had 11 points.
