Woodbridge High School’s baseball team had a combined no-hitter by Dylan Blakey and Jake Perez Saturday and opened the Ryan Lemmon Invitational with a a 10-0 victory over San Juan Hills at the Great Park Baseball Stadium.
Blakely pitched the first six innings, striking out 11 and not allowing a hit. Jake Perez closed it out with a hitless seventh inning.
“Dylan Blakey gave us a great effort and battled through a couple of innings where he gave up some free bases but buckled down to get himself out of a couple of tough jams,” Woodbridge Coach Ryan Brucker said Sunday. “He showed that he is a fierce competitor last night. Extremely proud of his performance.”Â
The Warriors (11-5) were led by Jake Haruki, who had a two run triple; Chase Quezada, who had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs; Matthew Kuromoto, who had two RBI and Nathan Perry, who scored two runs.
“Yesterday was a good team win to start the tournament,” Brucker said. “I liked our offensive approach. Chase Quezada continues to give us very competive at bats and is really doing an outstanding job setting the table for us. We had a great at-bat in the second inning from Jake Haruki with two outs that gave us two runs early and set the tone.”
Woodbridge continues tournament play Monday, hosting Marina at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Most of the tournament games are at the Great Park. Click here for Saturday’s results and Monday’s full schedule.
