Tustin, Santiago and San Juan Hills boys basketball teams capture Friday wins

TUSTIN 60, VALENCIA 25: Eli Nyeazi scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Ernest Love had 10 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Tillers to an Empire League victory Friday night. It was the league opener for Tustin (16-5 overall).

Valencia (3-9) was led by Noah Meagher with 10 points.

SANTIAGO 43, LOARA 37: The Cavaliers captured a victory in a Garden Grove League game.

Loara (6-12 overall) was down two points with under a minute to play in the game but failed to get a shot off. Paul Soriano, the senior point guard for Santiago, was the game’s high scorer with 18 points. Senior forward Elias Farhat led Loara with 15 points. Santiago is 12-8 overall.

NOTE: Loara will play Monday at 6 p.m. at home against Los Amigos. This is a make-up game because the scheduled contest on Wednesday, Jan. 5 was postponed due to COVID protocols, according to Loara Coach Ed Prange.

SAN JUAN HILLS 54, ALISO NIGUEL 52: The Stallions captured a victory in the Sea View League opener. Jake Simon scored 13 points, Jake Reichner had 12 points and John McFadden nine points points to lead the Wolverines (17-3 overall). The 17 wins is a school record, according to a tweet from San Juan Hills.
